General Questions

Who are you?

My name is Felix. I'm the sole developer of Sit Sync. I hope you enjoy the app!

What mode do you recommend?

Some phones will kill background processes in continuous mode, please use one time mode. Rest assured that your run will be synced into your games (like Pokemon Go). Simply log a run into the future using the "Now to future" logging mode. It won't have to be on or run in the background in this case AND it will still log your data. I know it sounds too good to be true, but you can confirm on Google Fit. It is the best and easiest mode to use. Simply click "Review" and then record your run!

If you must use continuous mode, please turn off battery optimizations. (Xiaomi users please turn on autostart for this app.)

What permissions does this app require?

When you sign in with Google, it will only ask for access to write physical fitness activity data into Google Fit.

Go to [Google Fit app Profile Settings Manage connected apps] to review the permissions.

It does not ask for "Fitness Location Data" like some other apps.

Why can't I stop a run?

When you press "Record Run", it will write the run to Google Fit. As this app only has permissions to write data to Google Fit, not to read or delete data. It cannot delete the run that it has written. This will not change in the future as I do not want users for invasive permissions.

I know it might seem spooky that Sit Sync is still writing your run even if you have the app closed. I can assure you that it will accurately record the run that you requested. Nothing more! Please be sure to review your run carefully before you record it if you are concerned.

How do I check if data is actually logged?

I highly recommend that you download the Google Fit app so that you can view your progress. It will show on the main screen of Google Fit, but you can also review the "Journal" in Google Fit and see what Sit Sync has logged.

Will the app remain free?

Yes, the app will always remain free. The core features will never be restricted or require payment. Also, I dislike full screen video ads. They won't be appearing in my apps.

One Time Mode

Why is it called this?

You press the button "one time" and then it will handle everything for you! Just come check back later.

Do I need this app open if I record?

No! It will write the data into Google Fit and you can close it. Come back later if you want to go for another "run".

What are presets?

You can save the current configuration (time, speed, modes) into a preset. If you want to go back to this exact setup in the future, just load from the preset. It will replace one time mode settings with those in saved in your preset.

Continuous Mode

Why is it called this?

It runs "continously" in the background and writes fitness data.

How do I know if this is running?

If there is a notification shade that is active, then you know it is running. If it isn't, then please start / restart the service.

Does it use a lot of battery?

No, it doesn't use a lot of battery. Please let me know if this isn't the case for you. I do recommend "one time" mode if you are concerned about this.

Pokemon Go and other games

While I don't have control over the games that you might use this app for, I will try my best to help debug if it isn't working for your game. I'm personally a Pokemon Go fan. I've been playing for a while! Feel free to reach out for any game though.
